VALE Beverley Kasmarik

It is with sadness to announce the death of Beverley Kasmarik. Beverley was a life member and past president. She joined the club in the late 1980s. She came relunctly to croquet when she gave up her beloved tennis because of bad knees. She won the AC Doubles in 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2003 - and in 2007 with Lucy Bratby who, incidentally, died in the same week.  (Lucy was not with the club for long but it was she who made those nice navy and white cushions we use on the plastic chairs). Bev won the AC Silver Championship in 1997, 1999 and in 2009 and the Silver Handicap in 1999. She also won the AC Gold Handicap and Championship in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Bev was President of the Club from 1997 to 2000, and it was she who decided that the Club had a lot of money in the bank and a rather poor Clubhouse.  She organised a committee to find a company who would replace the old building with a new one on the same foundations and it was she who cut the ribbon at an opening ceremony in 2001.
